Muhammed Zafar Iqbal

Muhammed Zafar Iqbal is a dedicated teacher of Computer Science and Engineering subject. But he is widely popular as a writer and novelist.

Muhammed Zafar Iqbal is currently a professor and departmental head at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology. He is admired by all class and age for his books and novels. He is mostly famous as a science fiction writer. He has immense contrition to children’s literature as well.

Zafar Iqbal is son of Faizur Rahman Ahmed and Ayesha Akhter Khatun. He studied in Bogra Zilla School, Dhaka College, Dhaka University. He took his PhD from University of Washington. After completion of his PhD, Zafar Iqbal joined California Institute of Technology and worked as researcher there. Later he joined Bellcore. Then he came back to Bangladesh and joined the CSE department at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST).

As a member of Bangladesh Mathematical Olympiad, Iqbal’s role was notable. He attracted youth in participate in math competition. He also made a positive involvement in the field of education and for that he won Rotary SEED Award in 2011.

Muhammed Zafar Iqbal has made a notable contribution in the field of literature and it was his father who motivated him in his early age to write. From his busy schedule in teaching profession he manages to provide quality writings to the people. And in the process, he encourages and motivates thousands of his readers. He is in fact one of the pioneer writers in Bangladesh to start science fictions. Some of his notorious works are given below:

Humayun Ahmed, the renowned writer and filmmaker is the elder brother of Muhammed Zafar Iqbal. Zafar Iqbal’s younger brother is Ahsan Habib, who is also a very common figure in Bangladesh.
For the contribution in various fields, Muhammed Zafar Iqbal has been honored with many awards. The list includes, Shishu Academy Agrani Bank Shishu shahitto Award. Khalekdad Chowdhury Literary Award and Sylhet Naittamoncho Award.
